Nails

I had a rough day the other day, and I treated myself to a manicure. If you can't feel good you might as well look good and fake everyone out. That's always been my motto. Not really, I just came up with that, but it is definitely going to be my motto from here on out.

I choose a neutral grey color, because, well I always choose a neutral grey color and why break tradition? I'm now sporting OPI Berlin There Done That.

It was the best $17 I've spent in a good long while.

Nailed it

I've got a couple recent nail polish victories to share with you. I've been dying for Essie's Chinchilly nail polish for a while. I love Essie, but I've been buying so much polish lately that I wasn't too keen on paying $8 a bottle. So I'd been searching for a similar color but had been unsuccessful until recently. I found a great $5 alternative. Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Greige Gardens. What do you think?

I also recently tried the half-moon trend. I used Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Greige Gardens and Plum's The Word and paper reinforcers to create the shape. Here's a step by step photo guide.
Greige Gardens & Plum's The Word
Reinforcers

Start with a coat of your light color (Greige Gardens)
Place reinforcers at the base of each nail with a half circle on the nail. Paint dark color over the entire nail
Remove reinforcer and now you have half moon nails

Pink Nails

I got this nail polish at Wal-Mart the other day for $1.98. It's Sinful Colors brand and the color is called Glass Pink. I would describe it as very light pink with a subtle shimmer. It barely shows up on my nails after 2 coats, but not in a bad way. It's like a bare nail with a little something extra. I might try a 3rd coat to see if that deepens the pink. Considering I didn't even pay $2 for it, I would say it is a winner.

Sample Swap

Last week, I participated in Classic Glam Blog's sample swap, and I'm oh so glad I did.

I got paired up with Jenn from Party of One. We sent each other 7-10 samples, plus 1 full size product. It was kind of like birchbox for bloggers. Thanks, Jenn. You sent some great stuff. I can't wait to try the shatter nail polish, and bliss body wash is my absolute fave!

Fourth of July(ish) Nails

Happy Birthday, America!

To be patriotic in a not so obvious way, I gave my nails a little makeover. The blue isn't old glory blue and there are no stripes, but I think it's a great modern look. Instead of screaming "I'm proud to be an American" in an obnoxious  way, my nails are saying "America, yeah it's cool."

How are you celebrating?

Silver tipped nails: Day 3

You may remember my Silver Tipped Manicure post from a few days ago. Here's of pic of day 3 and no visible chips! I should mention that a day after I painted with silver glitter, I wanted a different look so I applied one coat of pink glitter and one clear coat. My nail polish always chips; needless to say, I'm very happy to be chip-free!

Silver tipped manicure

I got caught up in the 'Teen Mom' marathon this weekend, and it was glorious. I spent Sunday eating junk food and laying in bed (notice the pictures were taken in my messy bedroom). It was laziness perfection. The only thing missing was my sweet husband, who was at work.

One of my favorite things to do while watching TV is to paint my nails. None of my polishes were jumping out at me, so I tried something a little different.

First, I swiped one coat of OPI Ridge Filler over my nails to serve as a base. Next, I used a silver glitter polish to tip my nails French manicure style. I used Love My Nails in Milky Way. Last, I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Invisible to set the glitter.

Nail Polish - A Brand You Should Know

I am obsessed with painting my nails. I love to change my polish 2-3 times (or more) a week! However, nail polish can be expensive. Who wants to pay $8 for a bottle of polish? Not this girl. But, I do it because I'm addicted. Nothing (well, not nothing but you get the picture) excites me more than having freshly painted nails. I can't wear jewelry to work so my nails are a way I can express my style (and scarves, I wear scarves inappropriately often...I pretend they're necklaces).

I'd seen the brand Sinful Colors for quite sometime when I would shop for nail polish. I was attracted to the bright, fun colors offered, but the price, $1.99, turned me off. I figured nail polish that inexpensive would be crappy. I thought it would probably chip or peel off in hours. It took me about 2 years to try it, but boy was I wrong! I love Sinful Colors! I have purchased 3 bottles now and am on the lookout for more. I buy at Walgreens or Target. I hope you love it as much as I do!
