Style Statement

STYLE STATEMENT
I stumbled upon the concept of a style statement while reading a post written by Kate from The Small Things Blog; she learned about it from Lauren at Simply Chic Mom. I’ve put a little southern spin on to make it fit me. You'll often see me refer to it my fashion posts.

WHAT IS A STYLE STATEMENT?
A style statement is a 2-3 word phrase that captures your style or what you want your style to be. It helps you think according to your identified taste and allows you to narrow down your options when shopping. It can also direct you to your style icons, which can inspire outfits and help you organize your personal style.

MY STYLE STATEMENT
I live in the south, and that presents its own style challenges. It can be extremely hot and humid. Plus, we southerners really have our own rules regarding fashion. The idea of a style statement really appeals to me, and I’ve been thinking about my clothing and how I like to present myself to the world. I love effortless, simple, timeless pieces. So, my style statement is “Classic Casual.”   I tend to gravitate towards more casual or effortless pieces. I also have a “classic” style. I don't often get carried away with trends, and I lean towards pieces that will always be wearable. My style statement will prompt me to ask these questions when shopping:
  1. Does this piece fit into my “Classic Casual” wardrobe?
  2. Do I already own something similar?
  3. How will I wear this/with what will I wear this?
MY STYLE ICON
I’ve chosen Reese Witherspoon as my style icon. She’s such a beauty, and she’s from Tennessee. Perfect for me, don’t you think? I just love her style. She never looks overdone, but always looks pulled together. She is definitely an inspiration.
