Style Statement Tuesday

This week's Pinterest outfit inspiration...

Here is my take on it...Admittedly, this is not really even close to the inspiration pic. I used the Pinterest inspiration picture as just that, inspiration.

By the way, I took these pictures inside because it was rainy and freezing outside. I took them after work, hence the wrinkles. I also took them with my iphone, hence the quality. What can I say? It was a rough day.

In the Pinterest pic, I see mixed prints, chambray, bold sunnies, and a big(ish) bag. My outfit has all those things, just not in the same way. To be honest, I like my version better. It better fits my style and the climate. I mean if it's cold enough to wear a blazer and a scarf, then it's too cold for bare legs. Am I right?

In hindsight, I should have chosen a different top with the skirt. I think the chambray being tucked in the skirt made me look shapeless. I also think the pockets on the shirt with scarf make me look very full on top and not in a good way. Next week I vow to wear something other than chambray. I think I may be obsessed with a shirt that is not as flattering in real life as is it in my head.

Anyway, I hope you guys link up and share your Style Statement outfits! Happy Tuesday!

Race for the Cure

Instead of a half marathon update, this week I thought I'd share my Race for the Cure experience with you. Kris and I did this 5k last Saturday morning. Kris does it every year, and this year I decided to join him.

We had to get up at 6am, which is an hour earlier than I get up for work. The race didn't start until 8:30am, but we had to fight traffic and pick up our race bibs.

Race for the Cure in Knoxville has a huge turnout every year. This year was no exception. There were people everywhere! It took us 8 minutes to get to the start line! I wish they would've done a wave start, but oh well. I also noticed there were tons of walkers and not so many runners. It was very difficult to get past all the walkers during the race. Many times, I had to stop running because I couldn't make my way through the crowd. It was a little frustrating that walkers weren't more aware of runners. I tried to keep in mind it was for a good cause, but common courtesy goes a long way in my opinion. Kris is much faster than I am, so he went ahead of me, but he said he encountered the same.

Did I mention it was cold? It was freezing! When I reached mile 2, it started raining. 50 degree weather, rain, and running don't really make for a comfortable experience. By the time I reached the finish line it had stopped raining, so I guess it wasn't too terrible after all.

I finished the race in just over 36 minutes. So, I'm running about a 12 minute mile. Not too bad considering my training program only has me running 15 seconds out of every minute. I think I would've been faster if there hadn't been so many people. But, who knows? Good thing there's still 6 months until my half marathon.

Here are a couple of pics from Race for the Cure. What did you do this weekend?

High Five for Friday

This 3 day work week (I was on vacation Monday and Tuesday) was nice. I worked hard, but it was something a little different than what I normally do, so I welcomed the change. I also really enjoyed my running time. All in all, I would say this week has been a winner.

Because it's Friday, I'm linking up with Lauren at From My Grey Desk for High Five for Friday. I hope you enjoy your weekend!

1. A couple of outfits and hair styles. I really like my hair in the far left pic.
2. We didn't freeze the top layer of our wedding cake. When I saw Frankenstein, I knew I made the right decision.
3. The beach was beautiful!
4. Sometimes, we enjoy the company of one another.
5. Oh yeah, this happened.

To fold or not to fold?

Let me ask you a question, do you fold your pants or hang them? Currently, I am a hanger. All my pants are hung on hangers in my closet. Each hanger holds about 3 of 4 pair of pants. I'm debating on whether folding some of my pants would be a better option for me. I can't decide.

I know my dress pants need to be hung, but can my jeans be folded? I only wear jeans on the weekends, so I might enjoy a little more room to see my options when choosing clothes for work. On the other hand, I don't have tons of shelf space in my closet, but I could always move my husband's clothes over a foot or so to make room. I'm sure he wouldn't notice mind.

Here's the current situation in my closet. Any suggestions on how to make it better? I know this is random, but I feel like my closet needs serious help.

Times flies

I just got back from my anniversary trip to Seaside, Florida (which is also where I got married). It's hard for me to believe it has been a year since the wedding. I guess it's true what they say about time flying. I thought I would share some wedding pictures with you. Maybe I'm biased, but I think I had one of the most beautiful weddings.
