10 Favorite Workouts

This morning, on my way to work, I saw a woman running .I noticed she had her very long hair completely down. No ponytail, no headband, no nothing. I thought to myself, how does she stand it? That would drive me crazy! Then I thought about how I like to wear my hair when I run (well, more like jog!). I MUST have my hair completely away from my face and completely off my neck. I'm just weird like that. Then I thought (funny how train of thought works sometimes) about my favorite exercises or ways to workout. Here are my top 10.

10. Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. I enjoy this DVD, but it is def intense.

9. Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds. My cable company has this 3 mile walk on-demand and I loved it for winter when it was too cold to leave the house.

8. Circuit Training with a Personal Trainer. I LOVE to strength train with a PT. They seem to be able to push you harder than you can push yourself. Plus, if you know someone is at the gym waiting on you it makes going to gym not suck so bad.

7. The Biggest Loser: Power Walk. This DVD is very similar to #9, but I think Bob Harper is super sexy. A great way to exercise at home.

6. Bootcamp. Kris and I did a 6 week bootcamp in Summer 2011. It totally kicked ass. I recommend attending a bootcamp class on the reg to anyone.

5. Jogging. Kris is a hardcore runner. Sometimes I like to go with him and hang back at a slower pace. It gets your heart rate up, but you don't feel like you're going to die.

4. Body by Bethenny. This yoga based DVD is great. It's only 40 minutes, so it is great if you don't have a lot of time. Plus, I just love her.

3. 10 Minute Solution Slim & Sculpt Pilates. I found this DVD at a local used bookstore a few years ago, and it has become one of my favs. It came with a Pilates Band, so you really feel the burn.

2. Barre Workouts. I.am.obsessed. I attend a barre fitness class once a week, and I just love it! You sweat to death, you shake like a leaf, but you love every minute of it! I work a lot, so it is hard for me to get to more than one scheduled class a week, but if I could I would totally go more often. Try it, you'll be hooked.

1. Walking Outside. It's so simple, but an hour long walk at 4.0mph pace is my absolute favorite way to exercise. I usually go with a friend so it feels more like fun than a workout. It's free, you can do it almost anywhere. What's not to love?

Here's a pic of Kris and me after finished a half-marathon in 2009.

BTW, I've lost about 7 pounds in our 10 pound showdown. Only 3 (or 5!) more to go! We have 3.5 weeks left!

Jamie's 10 favorite quotes

When Jess asked me to guest blog for her while she was on vacation, I was excited and nervous at the same time! Instead of overcoming my fear of blogging and backing out, I decided to put on my "big girl" panties and do it! That thought led me to my title " Jamie's 10 favorite quotes"!

My job really stresses me out. As a 5th year teacher of 4th grade students, my nerves are literally shot at the end of the day! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy teaching, but it is very stressful. My day doesn't stop there at 3:00. I must keep on going, so through out the rest of my daily adventures, I must not bite off anyone's head. I must keep reminding myself to be a lady and keep calm! To keep chipper, I keep a page or two or three at my desk to help myself keep in check! Men, these may not be geared toward you, however, you should appreciate them as they keep some women in check! Enjoy!!!

Audrey Hepburn, a lady of style and grace, says it best (in my opinion)!

1. “I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.”
Audrey Hepburn

2. “Nothing is impossible, the word itself says 'I'm possible'!”
Audrey Hepburn

3. “The most important thing is to enjoy your life—to be happy—it's all that matters.”
Audrey Hepburn

4. “The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows & the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.”
Audrey Hepburn

5. “You can tell more about a person by what he says about others than you can by what others say about him.”
Audrey Hepburn

6. “I don't want to be alone, I want to be left alone.”
Audrey Hepburn

7. “Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, it's at the end of your arm, as you get older, remember you have another hand: The first is to help yourself, the second is to help others.”
Audrey Hepburn

8. “people, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.”
Audrey Hepburn

9. Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.”

10. “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.”

Honorable Mention :)
“Just tell yourself, Duckie, you're really quite lucky!”

I read the Book Have I Ever Told You How Lucky You Are? to the 4th graders at my school on Dr. Suess' Birthday Celebration! This was a fabulous book! It brings a lot of things into perspective and reminds us that things could always be worse!

10 pound showdown update

Quick update on the 10 pound showdown. I've lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks! Half way to my goal of 10 pounds. How exciting is that?

But, I'm going to Phoenix for 3 days for a mini-vacation. Fingers crossed I stay on track!

Anybody have any suggestions for staying fit while on vacation?

10 days...10 pictures

6. Alys Beach, Florida. This was taken two days before I got married (we were lucky enough to have a gorgeous beach wedding) and it reminds of how much fun the weekend was. I love that area. It's one of my most favorite places on earth!

5. Rocking the side pony at work. I figure I only have about 3 years before the side ponytail becomes age inappropriate for me so I've gotta wear it while I can!

4. Our house progress. They started February 15th. So far, they've blasted rock, leveled the ground, poured the footers, and have started the foundation. It's crazy and really cool to see.
