I'm confused

Do you ever just want to say, "WTF?" Well, I do. All the time. I don't understand about 99% of what people do/say.

Here is a brief list of some things I've been thinking about lately that I just do not understand. If you can provide some insight, feel free.

Parents who put those huge disgusting bows in their little girl's hair. I know I'm southern, and I'm supposed to be all into it, but I'm not. I think they're gross. Sue me. See if I care.

Cartoon characters on clothing. Even on children's clothing. I don't get it. Light up shoes I totally get, but not the cartoon character thing.

Socks with sandals. You look like a d-bag if you do this. Look down at your feet. Are you wearing sandals? Are you wearing socks? Are you wearing socks and sandals? If yes, then stop it. Stop it right now.

People using the word "won't" when they really should use "want." Those words do not mean the same thing. Am I the only person in America who knows this? Surely not.

People who never answer their phone. Why have one if you never answer? Rude if you ask me.

People being pumped up about Kimye's bun in the oven. Isn't Kim still married?

High Five For Friday!

Per the usual, I'm linking up with Lauren for High Five For Friday!

This has been a helluva week, I tell you. It should have been an extra special week since it was birthday week, but that's just not how it goes when you're an adult. Damn you, adulthood, you keep screwing me any chance you get!

Random

I don't have a topic prepared for today, so this post is going to be really random. For that, I am sorry.

My goldendoodle, Five, ate a bar of soap in the middle of the night Tuesday night. It did not make her sick. In fact, it didn't seem to phase her at all. That's interesting because anything other than hypoallergenic dog food makes her violently ill. I guess we can add soap to the list of things she's not allergic to.

I stopped at McDonald's this morning to get a large Diet Coke. It just felt like it was going to be one of those days where I needed an extra kick of caffeine. I may or may not have gotten an Egg McMuffin while I was there.

I can't remember if I put on deodorant this morning. Time will tell.

It's Thursday, and I'm already dreading the weekend that hasn't arrived coming to an end. Can we say glass half empty?

I"m going on a girls' trip to Tybee Island, GA in exactly 10 weeks. I'm in bikini body mode and have lost 5 pounds. Keep your fingers crossed I can lose 5 more. In the words of my aunt, "I'll take meth if I have to." **she was kidding, I think.

Do you remember this post from Monday? My husband bought me the pink clutch for my birthday. I love it!

The best part of ridiculously large portions at restaurants is that you can enjoy your meal twice. Last night, I ate the rest of my Tuesday birthday dinner.

My dogs have taken to sleeping in between my husband and me. They don't like it when we show each other any kind of affection. They think they are the only ones who should get any love.

My nephew's first birthday is this month. I got him Singin' Cookie Monster. I'm worried he'll think the gift isn't good enough and hate me for the rest of his life. One year olds can be brutal.

I didn't iron my pants today. I'm considering lying to everyone and telling them I overslept and didn't have time. The truth is I just didn't feel like it.

My dad called me Tuesday to wish me a happy 29th birthday. I turned 28 on Tuesday. Thanks, Dad.

I signed up for a free Dual Credit CLE this week. It felt like Christmas. I realize I shouldn't be so excited about this, but ethics hours are hard to come by.

I was watching RHOBH last night. My husband was disappointed that it wasn't Miami. Miami is his favorite. What a loser! Everyone knows Miami is the worst!

OK, folks. I've run out of things to share with you. So that's enough for today. We'll pick up where we left off tomorrow. See you then, love bugs!

I say chicken you say chili

I can't remember the last time I shared a recipe with y'all. That's probably because I don't really cook so I don't have many recipes. Anyway, I'm going to share a Garner family favorite for the cold winter months.

I am NOT a traditional chili fan. I'll eat it, but only if I have to. When a friend shared a chicken chili recipe with me, I could not have been happier. It can be made in the crockpot, so it's perfect for this working woman. Over time, I've tweaked the recipe to our tastes. We really love this chili!

You'll Need:
a crockpot
1 lb boneless skinless chicken tenders
2 cans great northern beans
1 large jar of salsa (24 oz)
1 cup shredded pepperjack cheese
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
*makes about 5 servings at about 350 calories per serving

Cook on high for 4-6 hours. You can also cook on low for 8-10 hours. I do this if I put it in before I go to work.

About 20 minutes before serving, turn to the "keep warm" setting and stir the ingredients. I like to shred the chicken at this time, but you don't have to do this.

Add both cups of cheese and mixed until well combined.

Stir again before serving. Eat and enjoy!

Style Statement Tuesday

I can't believe it's time for another Style Statement Tuesday. Last week is like a blur. I'm not sure what happened.

 SST

This week I'm bring you my mint jeans in winter look. I bought the jeans in spring of 2012. I was a little apprehensive about them; they were a little too trendy for me. Slowly, I've found a way to work them into my wardrobe in a way that fits my style.

Shirt: J.Crew Factory; Sweater: Gap (old); Jeans & Shoes: Target

The button-up shirt and a sweater combo is kind of my thing, so this outfit really feels like I'm being authentic and true to my 'Classic Pretty' style statement without being too boring or too off-the-wall. I'm so glad I found a way to wear these jeans in the winter without looking like a hot mess.

These pics make me realize how badly I need a new camera. Mine is from 2010. Don't judge. My dad has a super sweet Nikon I'm trying to talk him into lending me. So far it hasn't worked. Our house has just awful lighting, so I hope a new camera will do the trick. Often times, my schedule doesn't allow me to do "off-site" photo shoots. So all that to say, I'm sorry for the shitty quality of the pictures. Forgive me.

Spring Under $50

I'm so ready for Spring. This cold weather has me crazy depressed. I'm over drabby sweaters and bulky layers. This girls needs to show some skin!

To prove to myself that Spring will, in fact, come sometime soon I did a little online digging. I found Spring worthy items you're going to want to snatch up.

The best part? They're all under $50! And, you're welcome.

High Five For Friday

Hip-hip-hooray! It's Friday!

I love the weekends. Mostly because I can lie around doing nothing. I'm an excellent nothing-doer.
