Style Statement Tuesday

Welcome back, homies. Pump the breaks. Typing that didn't even feel right. Let's try again.

Welcome back to Style Statement Tuesday, dolls! OK, that was better.

This week is all about mixing textures. I've been wanting to try this look for a hot minute, but I haven't had the courage until now. I think I finally found a way to play with texture while still being true to my 'Classic Pretty' style statement

Pants: J.Crew Factory; Jacket: The Limited; Top & Scarf: NY & Co; Hat: American Eagle; Shoes: Piperlime
The black pants are a classic style, and I can wear them multiple ways. I bought the silky blouse this summer, and I loved it. I'm glad I found a way to make it work in the winter. The leather jacket has a little ruffle in the back, and I am kicking myself for not getting a picture of it. It definitely adds a pretty touch to a bad ass jacket. My husband bought me the hat. I think it's a great item to trend up an outfit.

All in all, I think this outfit is a win. I was a little bit out of my comfort zone, but I think I found a way to be a risk taker, but still be true to myself.

Nobody knows my struggles...

Hold on to your girdles girls, this is going to be a good one.

A few days ago, an old friend posted (and tagged) some pictures of me on Facebook circa 1999. I was 14. So, they were pretty damn awkward. There is a reason Facebook didn't exist back then, people.

Now normally, I like to pretend I've always been the gorgeous fashionista you see today. JK guys, JK. However, that just isn't so. Lord have mercy, that just isn't so.

As a child, I was pretty adorbs.

As an adult, I'm not so bad.

As a teenager, I was...well...

You know what they call that? Strugglin'. Hardcore strugglin'.

Judge me if you must. God knows I'm judging myself. I was frizzy haired, chubby, and clueless. Bless my heart.

I got it semi-together in late high school and college. But, I started really feeling and looking most like a normal person myself after college and during law school. Thank the good Lord for Aveda and Weight Watchers, that's all I can say!

So, the moral of the story is

If you're on overweight, curly haired girl living in a time before hair straighteners are in every home, for heaven's sake DON'T CUT YOUR HAIR INTO A BOB!

High Five For Friday!

It's Friday, and tonight is date night. My Boo For Life (please know that I'm kidding, I don't actually call him that) and I will be hitting up downtown Knoxville.

We're going to see West Side Story, grab drinks, and maybe even make out in public. Who knows where the night might lead! We're two wild and crazy guys!

To say the last few weeks have been rough would be an understatement. This date night couldn't come at a better time. I'm super excited. I'll probably drink too much and pass out on the way home, but hey that's what your twenties are for, right?

Anyway, I've gotten a little off topic. Sorry about that.

Here are some lovely things from my week.

1. I really do have the best friends.
2. Yep, no sweets/desserts since last Friday!
3. Love when the Tennessee Theater sign is glowing!
4. My mom sent over this little gem. Hello 1989.
5. A sparkly headband solved my Wednesday workout woes.

Happy weekend, loves. Enjoy it while it lasts!

It's OK

Lately, I've found myself in many situations where I've had to take a deep breath and tell myself it's all OK. But, instead of re-hashing it all with you guys, I decided I would lighten the mood today.

I bring you the It's OK Thursday: Real Housewives of Atlanta Edition.

It's OK...

For Kenya Moore to think she looks like Beyonce. She doesn't and we all know that.

That NeNe refers to herself as "glamother" instead of grandmother. No explanation necessary.

For me to give Phaedra a free pass just because she practices law. Us attorneys have to stick together.

That Cynthia and Peter are starting to look like the only "normal" ones. Miracles do happen, folks.

That my favorite quote from the show is when Phaedra said "Everybody knows the only person looking for a husband is somebody that ain't never had one."

For Cynthia to put Kenya in her place by offering to give her the book He's Just Not That Into You. Get it girl!

That watching this train wreck of a show makes me happier than eating cupcakes and drinking champagne. And that is tough to do!

Remember boos, It's OK!

I'm loving these

Everyone who knows me knows that I am a sucker for anything cute. I am a total gadget girl, and I can talk myself into buying pretty much anything. I just can't help it.

I've complied a list of some of my favorite (for now) items.

How cute is this little glass milk carton?! I don't really drink milk, but I still think this is adorbs.

I"m dying to get our dogs one of these. I cannot stand the jingle jangle of tags. Wouldn't sweet Bourke look great in the blue? And Five would look so cute in the pink one!

Yep, I'm in love with this t-shirt. I think I might die if it doesn't come to live at my house. Now everyone will know Tennessee is home sweet home!

I adore these wish lanterns! I feel like I need to have a party just so all my friends can make a wish on one of these things. Plus, this would make for an amazing photo. Dang it, I wish I would have thought of this for new year's. Everyone could have made a wish at midnight.

These are perfect for me. Organization + color + cuteness = Jessica.

This would make my husband the happiest he has even been. I wish I would have invented this. So cool.

These are so perfect. Probably the most practical on the list.

So, what are you loving? Do you have a guilty buying pleasure?

Style Statement Tuesday

This week's Style Statement Tuesday is a little unusual.Just go with it.

I was shopping with my husband a couple of weekends ago, and I was so bored. Nothing is more boring than shopping for suits and ties. No. Thing.

So, to stay entertained I ended up taking tons of pictures of myself in the full length mirrors. I mean, what else was I going to do? My hair was good and my outfit was cute, thus I'm turning the pics into Style Statement Tuesday photos. I'm nothing if not resourceful.
