Mix It: Drapey Pants

Today, I have the pleasure of co-hosting Mix It Monday with Lauren from Fizz & Frosting. If you haven't checked Fizz & Frosting out, you totally should. Lauren is definitely one of my favorite bloggers. That girl's got style! OK, enough gushing, onto the post...

I've been seeing the drapey pants trend everywhere, but I've just gotten up the nerve to purchase a pair. I gotta say gals, I love them! I wore them en route to Key West last weekend and they were so comfortable on the plane, not to mention stylish. These pants are pretty easy to casually style, but I wanted to show you a way to dress them up a bit.

Here's my casual look. An easy tee shirt, floppy hat, and comfy wedges.

Here's my take on a dressier look. A button up tied up to be a kind of crop top, silver heels, and a neon clutch.

What do you think? How do you style your drapey pants? I'd love your feedback.

Currently Craving: Nautical

With 4th of July being right around the corner, I've been thinking about looks that pay homage to the ole Red, White, & Blue. I decided nothing screams "God Bless America" like a classic nautical look. Here are a few seaworthy outfit ideas.

Funday Monday: Key West

I just got back from a mini vacation to celebrate my friend's 30th birthday. We had tons of fun, but I'm sad it ended so soon. I'm back to the grind at work today, but I'm linking up with Molly & Carly for Funday Monday!

Great group of girls to hang with for a weekend.

Got to see the southernmost point.

Took a pic outside the Ernest Hemingway house because who wants to pay $13 just to walk through it?

Went snorkeling and the water was beautiful. So was the Corona.

And we saw a drag show. In the middle of the day. And there were children sitting right beside me, so yeah.

PS - All photos are taken by my friend, Amy.

Let's Be Honest...I'm Keeping It Real

Am I the only one who feels like fashion/beauty/lifestyle bloggers (1) have it all (unlimited money, clothes, shoes, time, etc.) OR (2) are full of shit?

My vote is on the latter. Kris and I do quite well for ourselves, but the Manolos still aren't free flowing if you know what I mean. So let's take a minute and keep it real, shall we?

1. I don't have unlimited money. Home girl is on a budget and it doesn't include YSL bags and Jimmy Choos.

2. My hair nails, clothes, etc. aren't perfect. Sometimes all of the time, I even repeat outfits!

3. My marriage isn't perfect, either. Gasp! I'm married to a human. My husband is also married to a human. We make mistakes and it isn't all peonies and cupcakes.

4. I don't live in a super cool city. I live in a super normal city with super normal things to do.

5. I can't seem to find the time to dress myself up and take blog photos. I have a job, a house, and 2 dogs. Plus, I like to watch TV and drink wine. I don't know how other people do it.

6. I don't spend a bajillion dollars on hair and beauty products. Please refer back to #1.

7. I'm a little insecure about my looks and body. I'm definitely not a size 2.

8. My home isn't filled with goodies from Pottery Barn or Restoration Hardware, but I love it anyway.

9. I can't cook or bake like Martha Stewart. I can't do anything like Martha Stewart, except successfully avoid jail.

10. I don't subscribe to any of those money boxes. No birchbox, no glossy box, no stitch fix, no nothing. The only monthly subscription I have is for birth control, oh wait...

What to Wear: Girls' Trip

I"m going on a girls' trip to Key West this week, so I've been thinking a lot about how to pack effectively and efficiently. I want to look cute, but I don't want to be the girls who brings 3 suitcases for a weekend trip, you know what I mean?

Girls Trip

The key to packing light is bringing items that are versatile.Sandals will work at the beach and with jeans and a tank. A ball cap will keep you safe from the sun, plus it doubles as a hangover helper paired with a slouchy tee. Those wedges? They go with your dress and polish off a casual look at the airport.

Be sure to think about how you'll wear each item you bring. Don't bring things that you can only wear once, that's a waste of precious space! For more packing tips, you can click here.

Who Am I? Behind the Blog

I aw this idea on Kerry Washington's website and knew I had to do it! Here's a little peek into who I am!

High Five For Friday!

I'm excited to be back for a H54F post! It's been awhile, but I'm linking up with Lauren Elizabeth for today's post.

This weekend, I'm headed to Franklin/Nashville to officially get Kris moved into our apartment there. I'm trying to make it feel like a second home that way I don't feel like we have separate homes. Really it's just that we each have 2 homes, 1 in Franklin and 1 in Knoxville!

Here's what I've been up to...

1. These dogs crack me up. Especially Five, who always looks like she should be sunbathing on a beach somewhere.

2. Kris and I went to a Dave Matthew's Band concert in Atlanta a couple of weeks ago and had the best time. Dave Matthews is my number 1 celebrity crush.

3. I've been doing Whole 30 for 11 days now. I really love it. It's been fairly easy to stick to. The only thing I really miss is Diet Coke.

4. This morganite eternity band needs to be in my life immediately. Ahem, Kris?

5. I recently cut my hair into a long bob, and I have to say I'm really digging it. I had shorter hair in law school and it's nice to have it back. I can see myself sticking with this style for a while.

Well, cheers to a fabulous weekend!
