High Five For Friday

Well, it's Friday. Thank God for that; I can't handle another work day. This week, my husband was out of town. He came home yesterday evening, and I'm happy to have him back. Sunday, I go out of town for work. So, if you don't hear from me until Thursday, you know why!

I'm linking up with Lauren at From My Grey Desk for High Five for Friday. Here are my five things from the week. What about you? Anything cool/funny/disgusting/worth sharing happen to you?

1. I think I'm getting these bangs
2. My sister found this picture of me and my brothers from back in the day. Funny how she's not in it
3. Forgot to put mascara on my bottom lashes and looked dead all day Thursday
4. New lipstick, Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait
5. I rocked a gigantic bun on Monday. If you follow me on Instagram (@jessicamanninggarner) you've already seen this with the caption: "I like big buns and I cannot lie."

Happy weekend!

The Necessities

I feel I need to share this with you guys because you get me. And this is totally me.

This is a real life text exchange between me and my husband. He asked if I stopped to get anything for dinner. I told him I got the necessities.

Half Marathon Update

This week is week 3 of my 8 week conditioning program. I'm still enjoying getting outside and running, surprisingly. The sun is starting to set around 7:30pm, so I'm having to run as soon as get home from work. I know that pretty soon, my running outside days will be over until spring.I've ventured out of my neighborhood and boldly gone to the park a half mile away from my house. I know, I'm impressed, too. Truthfully, I'm still unsure about leaving Bourke alone for too long or going too far away. He has a check-up next week, and I'm hoping I get more comfortable with the status of his health.

I took these pics on a walk day (and on my phone hence the poor quality), so my hair is down. Sometimes, I feel manly in running clothes with my hair pulled back so it was nice to be able to have it down. That sounds stupid, I know, but I like to look my best. Even when exercising.

I feel the need to share pictures so you all know I actually am going for a run, not just saying I am and then eating a bucket of fried chicken while watching Real Housewives of New Jersey.

I needed you to see my t-shirt. Gotta rep Tennessee!

These Guys

These guys came to visit me this weekend. You can read an older post about them here.

I learned about planking, owling, memes, and all the other stuff kids are into these days. Clearly, I was out of touch with today's youth, but they've gotten me up to speed. The only reason they let me take pictures was because I promised them I would put them on the blog. I guess it's uncool to let adults take pictures of you acting like a normal person unless they're going to blog about it. I'm not really sure.

These bips are my oldest brother's children. Gabe, Matthew, and Olivia. They're pretty much the coolest kids ever. Except for me when I was a kid; no one will ever be cooler than I was.

Style Statement Tuesday

Last week, I posted pictures of outfits I found on Pinterest that inspired me. Here's my outfit inspiration this week.

Here's my version. I chose to do my color on the bottom and keep my top more neutral. I also added a scarf because I felt more like me with a scarf. I pulled my hair into a bun to add a little height. My version isn't an exact replica, but it's definitely me!

What did you do this week? Link up and let me know!

Pink Nails - Update

This is what a 3rd coat does. Not much difference, but I still like it.

Pink Nails

I got this nail polish at Wal-Mart the other day for $1.98. It's Sinful Colors brand and the color is called Glass Pink. I would describe it as very light pink with a subtle shimmer. It barely shows up on my nails after 2 coats, but not in a bad way. It's like a bare nail with a little something extra. I might try a 3rd coat to see if that deepens the pink. Considering I didn't even pay $2 for it, I would say it is a winner.

So cute!

I'm normally not a kid person. They're kind of messy, needy, and moody. I would compare them to a bad ex-boyfriend, but some people might get offended by that so I won't do it. *if you're reading this blog, this doesn't apply to your children because if you have sense enough to read my blog then your kids are obviously fab

Most of the clothes parents put on their children deeply disturbs me. Why the giant bows and flowers in the hair of little girls? I don't get the cartoon characters on everything. I understand the appeal of light up shoes, but they are def a fashion faux pas.

However, I stumbled across these pictures on Pinterest, and these kids are the cutest things I've ever seen. They have more style in their tiny pinky fingers than I have in my whole body. Forget trying to decide if I want children; I'll take one of these cuties. (until bedtime, then I'll give it back. I need my beauty sleep.)

Style Statement Tuesday

It's Style Statement Tuesday!

Today, I'm posting outfits I've seen on Pinterest that I think fit into my Classic Pretty style. Over the next few weeks, I'm going to "copy" these outfits with items from my own closet.

Here are my inspirations...

Heavenly Father,

I thank you for all your blessings. Your grace is beyond measure. I've never known what it's like to be hungry. I have no idea how it feels to be homeless. I don't know what it's like to feel unloved and alone.

I grew up in a home where love was abundant. Most people have two parents, and I was blessed with three parents who have always been there for me. I was given the opportunity to go to college and law school. I have an amazing husband and partner. I have a great job and the best friends.

I've never known devastating loss or unbearable heartbreak. I've been blessed in every way one could possibly imagine. So, Lord, today I ask you for nothing. I only want to say thank you for your blessings in my life.

Half Marathon Update

This week I started the 8 week conditioning program I mentioned here. I hasn't been tough at all. But, let's be honest, if running 5 seconds a minute for 18 minutes is hard then I have no business training for a half marathon. Did that sound snarky? I didn't mean for it to sound snarky. I'm just keeping it real. Do the kids still say that, "keeping it real"? I have no idea what's cool anymore. I think that's obvious. Anyway, I've gotten off on a tangent so I'll get back to business.

I've been surprised how much I've enjoyed getting back into running. (Can I call what I'm doing running?) I've just been running around my neighborhood which I like because I still haven't gotten comfortable leaving Bourke. I've discovered everyone in my neighbordhood (except me) has children. Either that or they all have weird obsessions with small plastic cars and tricycles. I don't know which is worse.

I tried to snap a few pics of myself pre-run. I wanted to look cute and sassy. It didn't work out that way. The pics were too horrible not to share. By the way, you'll never see me post run. I tend to sweat. A lot. You don't need to see that.

Trying to look cute, not being successful

Why? I have no idea

Hello lover

I die for these. Die!

I can predict the future

In 2008ish (I can't remember if it was early 2008 or late 2008) I purchased this necklace.

In September of 2012 I saw this necklace for sale.

Yes, folks, I'm psychic. I have the ability to predict what will be in style 4 years from now. I'm seeing lace and champagne pink. Mark my words.
